Where do you procure the meat and chickens from?

The Poultry Farm does not procure chickens. We raise our own free range organic country chickens in our vast farmlands at Hosur and Tindivanam. All our chickens and meat is directly sourced from our very own farms where they are raised organically.

What are the chicken breeds delivered by The Poultry Farm?

The Poultry Farm exclusively specialises in free range organic country chicken breeds like Aseel. Aseel is one of the oldest indigenous chicken breeds raised in India. These muscular and strong birds are very sturdy and adapt to climatic conditions and different environments easily. They grow slowly but have a meaty carcass, large hearts, small intestines and are also extremely intelligent creatures. Their innate resistance to diseases is also an added advantage.

How are the free range organic country chickens raised?

The laid eggs are incubated for hatching and the little chicks are raised in a safe environment with their parental birds. Every morning the birds are released from their enclosures into the fields for foraging nutrients. The chickens consume the nutrients necessary for them and roam about freely in their natural habitat. The healthy and happy birds are also fed nutrition rich, in-house cultivated feed that renders medicinal benefits and helps them gain weight healthily.

What is the feed given to the chickens? Is it organic?

The feed given to the chickens is nutritious, wholesome and consistently monitored by professionals. The feed consists of makka cholam (maize), cholam (corn), arisi kurunai (broken rice), soya punnaku (soyabean meal), meen thool (powdered fish), kodhumai (wheat), arisi thavidu (rice husk), thaathu uppu kalavai (mixture of mineral salts), kilinjal (sea shells), azolla and termites. This assorted feed enhances the natural flavour profile of the meat.

Does feed affect the flavour of the chicken?

Feed has a direct impact on the flavour of poultry meat and eggs, that's why free range organic country chickens generally have complex, nuanced flavours. The feed given to the chickens is nutritious, wholesome and consistently monitored by professionals. This assorted feed enhances the natural flavour profile of the meat.

Do free range organic country chickens contain less saturated fat? Why?

Since the chickens are allowed to roam freely foraging for food out in the nature, they develop lean muscles with negligible amount of fat.The chickens contain less saturated fats which is the leading cause for cholesterol and subsequently heart ailments.
